Art with a Heart is an event conducted by the greater Oklahoma City/ Edmond area
Tri Delta alumnae. The alumnae select a local children’s charity as the beneficiary
each year. For the last several years Art with a Heart has been proud to benefit
Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association. This non-profit group helps children
and their families cope with the emotional, physical and financial struggles associated
with cancer. Our upcoming 2010 event will once again benefit this wonderful organization.
Art with a Heart is a silent art auction conducted with the help of the young patients
in the art therapy program at the Jimmy Everest Cancer Center at Children’s
Hospital of Oklahoma. The patients/ artists donate artwork to be sold in a silent
auction. All the proceeds raised during the Art with a Heart silent auction benefit
the Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association (OCCA). Proceeds from past auctions
have been used by OCCA for items such as art supplies, scholarships for survivors,
Christmas parties for the children and even funeral expenses.
Art with a Heart is more than just a fundraiser. The patients/ artists who donate
artwork are honored at the event for their contributions. For this one night, these
children are the center of attention, not because they have cancer, but to share
with everyone their very special works of art.
